Three cheers for Vijay

The triple action mania has gripped Kollywood tight it seems. The latest to join the list after Ajith, Vadivelu and Vivek is Vijay, who would apparently act in three different roles in a movie to be directed by Gautam Vasudeva Menon.

Sources say that though Gautam is busy with Varanam Aayiram and the untitled film in which Trisha is acting in the lead, he is also preparing himself for the mega movie, in which he would join hands with Vijay for the first time.

‘The movie would be an action thriller and Vijay would act as a police officer after Pokkiri’, say sources close to the director.

Thiruvilyadal in Telugu

Dhanush’s Thiruvilayadal Arambham will go to Tollywood. The remake rights have been sold for a hefty sum.

The film was directed by Bhoopathy Pandian, who had done Dhanush’s earlier film Devathayai Kandein.

The film was an out and out entertainer with romance, action, comedy and sentiment in the right proportion. D Imman had scored the music.

Rajnikanth opts for Ayurveda treatment

Rajnikanth will undergo Ayurveda treatment at a popular hospital in Kerala next month. It may be recalled that after Chandramukhi, Rajnikanth had been to the hospital and underwent an ayurveda treatment to rejuvenate him.

According to reports, Rajnikanth will stay at Sri Santhigiri Ayurveda Hospital in Thiruvananthpuram and undergo the treatment for the next few days.

A special room has been allotted for the ‘Super star’ at the hospital.

Girl baby for Suriya-Jyothika

Suriya and Jyothika, the most loved couple in the Tamil film industry, today became proud parents of a baby girl.

Jyothika gave birth to a healthy girl at a private hospital at around 9.22 p.m. Friday evening.

With the doctors marking today as the ‘due date’ and widely reported in the media too, there was little surprise.

Today being an Aadi Velli, an auspicious day in Tamil calendar, it was doubly special for Suriya, whose career is on a big high.

Suriya and Jyothika, after a fairytale romance, got married last year.

It was one of the famous weddings in Kollywood.

Suriya had given up his shooting stint to be present beside her wife at the time of the delivery of their child.

Nayanthara, Trisha are thick pals now

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Friendship has blossomed between Nayanthara and Trisha.

A franks and out- spoken person Nayanthara is happy to say that she is very close to Trisha. Nayanthara shares all about her personal and professional commitments with her new-found friend.

Nayanthara is now acting in a couple of films including Billa and Yaradi Nee Mohini and Trisha is playing the female lead in Bheema and Goutham Menon’s untitled film.

Aarya premiered at Singapore

The mega celebrations at Singapore to commemorate the 75 years of Tamil cinema kicked off last week with the screening of MGR’s classic Nadodi Mannan.

Sarath Kumar, president, South India Film Artistes association, inaugurated the month-long celebrations, organized by Nadigar Sangam.

The mega event would conclude with a star nite event on 6 October in which stars of the tinsel town are expected to take part.

On Thursday, the premiere of Madhavan’s latest release Aarya was organized. Madhavan, director Balasekharan and producer Manoj Kumar among others took part in the celebrations.

Aarya features Madhavan and Bhavana play medical college students. The movie also stars Vadivelu and Prakash Raj in key roles.

Kamal bravura show

Kamal Haasan appeared at a court in Chennai on Thursday over a complaint lodged in regard to his up and coming Dasavatharam.

An assistant director Senthil Kumar had filed a complaint alleging that Dasavatharam was his own story and that the producers, actor and director of the movie had cheated him.

Dasavatharam is a big budgeted films produced by Oscar films Ravichandran. Kamal Hassan is playing 10 different roles in this film. The script is written by Kamal and director K S Ravikumar is directing the film. According to the producer, this film is nearing its final stage of shooting and slated for Diwali release.

Kamal Haasan appeared before the judge on Thursday and contended that no plagiarism was involved in it. He stated that it was his own story. Kamal Haasan and his Counsel appeared before the Judge and explained to him in detail. Also they agreed to submit an English version of the script of Dasavatharam.

Kamal Haasan had stated that he had been in the industry for the past few decades and won several awards and acclaims and that there is no need to lift the stories of others.

Avid Kamal fans and media men gathered in large numbers at the High Court to catch a glimpse of Kamal Haasan.

Namitha, Nayanthara clash

Namitha and Nayanthara fought with each other at the sets of Billa at AVM Studios in Chennai. No, don’t get us wrong, it was all part of the shoot.

The shooting of Billa, a remake of yesteryear Rajnikanth hit, was on at Chennai on Thursday. Scenes involving Nayanthara, Namitha and later Ajith were shot.

Director Vishnuvardhan and cinematographer Nirav Shah chose to shoot scenes involving a stunt sequence between Namitha and Nayanthara. Both crossed swords at each other. The fencing scenes between the two heroines were shot.

Namitha Said, “It was a different feel to shoot for an action sequence. I had to learn fencing to fight with Nayanthara. The scene has come out really good. All credit to Vishnuvardhan for getting the best out of us”.

Scary moment for Sandhya

Tension prevailed at the sets of Manjal Veyyil when actresses Sandhya and Tharika were struck inside a room at a shooting spot unable to open the doors for over four hours.

Manjal Veyyil starring Prasanna, Sandhya and Tharika was being shot at a Guest House in East Coast Road. When the shooting was on, Sandhya and Tharika entered a room to change their costumes.

Unfortunately, the door got closed automatically. Unable to open the doors, they shouted for help. Several attempts by the crew and the director to help them open the doors yielded no result.

Finally, a key-maker was summoned to the shooting spot and with his help, the door was finally broke open.

After stranded in the room for over four hours, the actresses managed to come out. This created tense moments at the shooting spot of Manjal Veyyil.

Malai Kallan is back

Rajkiran is back on track with recent releases like Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Kireedam and Thottal Poo Malarum. The latest news is that several long-pending movies of Rajkiran are getting ready for completion and may hit the screens one after another.

It may be recalled that a couple of years ago, a movie titled Gold Medal starring Rajkiran went to floors.

Following the successful comeback of Rajkiran, the movie is expected to go to floors again. Interestingly, the producers have opted to go in for a Tamil title to avail the tax benefit.

According to sources, Gold Medal is changed to Malai Kallan. Remember it was the title of a yesteryear MGR classic.
